Day-by-Day Itinerary – 5 Days (Serengeti & Ngorongoro)
Day 1: Arrival – Transfer to Central Serengeti
Luxury Day 1Your guide meets you in Arusha. You may fly to Seronera airstrip (saving time) or enjoy a scenic drive through the Great Rift Valley. Arrive in Central Serengeti in the afternoon and begin your first game drive. Lions, leopards, cheetahs, and large herbivores are common. Overnight at a luxury camp in Central Serengeti.
Day 2: Full Day in Central Serengeti – Big Cats & Migration Scouting
Luxury Day 2Dedicate a full day to Central Serengeti’s predator-rich terrain. Early morning game drive, followed by breakfast and optional rest, then afternoon drive. Your guide monitors migration movement; if the herds are near, you’ll adjust the route to intercept them. Overnight Central Serengeti.
Day 3: Northern Serengeti (Kogatende) – River Crossings
Luxury Day 3Transfer north to the Mara River area (Kogatende). This is the heart of the river crossing zone during July‑October. Enjoy a full day exploring crossing points, waiting for wildebeest and zebras to brave the crocodile‑infested waters. If crossings are not happening, you’ll see massive herds and predators lurking nearby. Overnight at a luxury camp in Northern Serengeti.
Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater – Full Day Descent
Luxury Day 4After a morning game drive in Northern Serengeti, travel to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend into the Crater for a full afternoon game drive (or on Day 5, depending on timing). See the Big Five in close quarters – black rhino, elephant, lion, buffalo, and leopard. Enjoy a picnic lunch by the hippo lake. Overnight at a luxury lodge on the crater rim.
Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater (Morning) & Departure
Luxury Day 5Early morning descent into the Crater for another game drive (if not done the previous afternoon). The Crater is often most active in the morning. After lunch, transfer back to Arusha for your onward flight or extension to Zanzibar. Optional: add an extra day to explore Lake Manyara or fly from Manyara airstrip.
